BSL 4: Zombie killers prevail over Centaurs in a low scoring thriller

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Centaurs top order batsmen were totally clueless against the new ball bowling attack of Zombie Killers comprising Shishir and Vivek Nair who were just unplayable. Shishir struck in the first over of the match as he castled Varun Seth, the opening batsman of Centaurs before he could open his account. Shishir was even more lethal in his second over when he castled Raghuraman and Anand Kumar in 2 consecutive deliveries and left Centaurs in deep trouble.

After the initial jolts Centaurs were in a desperate need for good partnership, opener Avinash BM and Suresh who came in to bat after the 3rd wicket just did that and gave some relief to Centaurs. Both brought up the first 50 run partnership of the tournament with a combination of quick running and good shots to the boundaries. As soon after the 50 run partnership was completed and Centaurs were looking good, Raushan Anand the skipper of Zombie killers struck and removed Avinash BM. After the 4th wicket of Centaurs it was a procession from the Centaurs batsmen as all were quickly returning back to the pavilion. Centaurs were bowled out for 81 runs in 18.3 overs. Shishir finished with a very impressive figure of 4-7 in 3.2 overs while Vivek Nair and Raushan Anand picked up 3 wickets each.

Zombie Killers too did not have a good start with the bat as Shishir who opened the innings for Zombie Killers fell in the first over as he was castled by Bharath Sequeira the skipper of Centaurs. Opener Anupam and Wasim basha who walked in after the fall of 1st wicket were very cautious in their approach and trying to build the innings when Wasim was dismissed by Ajit Hegde. Soon Anupam was sent back to the pavilion by Ashutosh. Vivek Nair struck 3 boundaries to accelerate the innings of Zombie Killers before being castled by Lakshman. Later Siddhanth and Nagaraj played some useful but short innings by scoring 11 and 12 runs respectively. By the time Nagaraj was dismissed Zombie killers were in a good position and just needed 11 runs with 3 wickets in hand. Wicket keeper batsman Anup Naik played a smart and patient innings and guided Zombie killers to their first win of the tournament. For Centaurs the best bowlers on display were Lakshman who picked 2 wickets by giving away 19 runs of his 4 overs and Ajit hegde who picked up 2 wickets in his 4 overs by giving away 20 runs. Bharath Sequeira, Ashutosh, Ramachandra Bhatt and Suresh picked up a wicket each.

Shishir was awarded man of the match for his impressive bowling performance in which he picked up 4 wickets and just gave away 7 runs.
