Karnataka beat Hyderabad by 59 runs in Ranji Trophy match
Karnataka bowled out Hyderabad for 320 runs in the second innings to register their second successive victory of Ranji trophy 2017-18 season.
The 4th day's play was very evenly poised till the end as Hyderabad did try their best to chase down the target of 380 runs set by Karnataka. But eventually fell short by 59 runs and conceded the game to Karnataka. It was again the spin duo of Karnataka, Shreyas Gopal and K Gowtham who were instrumental in bundling out Hyderabad for 320 runs and ensuring Karnataka's second successive win this season. The spin duo had earlier put up an impressive display in the first innings too and had accounted for 8 of the 10 Hyderabad wickets in 1st innings.
Shreyas Gopal finished with figures of 4 for 91 in 18.4 overs while K Gowtham finished with figures of 3 for 92 in 41 overs. Karun Nair, Vinay Kumar and Stuart Binny picked up a wicket each in the second innings.
For Hyderabad, Bavanaka Sandeep was the top scorer in the 2nd innings as he managed to score 80 runs of 205 deliveries and the knock included 10 boundaries. Ashish Reddy also came good for Hyderabad with the bat as he managed to score 57 of 98 balls. His knock included 3 sixes, infact he was the only batsman from Hyderabad team who hit a six in the 2nd innings. Tanmay Agarwal, Ambati Rayudu and Akash Bhandari got good starts but could not convert it to big knocks which would have won their team the match.
With this result Karnataka remained table toppers of GROUP A , as they now have 13 points from 2 matches. Railways is on the second spot in GROUP A as they too have 13 points, but have played a game more than Karnataka and also has a lesser net run rate than Karnataka.
