Bengaluru's contribution to Indian team which just played the FIFA U-17 World cup 2017

When India won the rights to host the U-17 FIFA World cup there were lot of talks and rumors of Bengaluru being a venue for the high profile tournament. But when the venues were finally announced the football loving fans of Bengaluru did not have any good news to celebrate as Bengaluru was not chosen as a venue for the World cup matches. 

But when the Indian squad for the U-17 FIFA World cup was announced there was some great news awaiting the Bengaluru Football fraternity. Two boys from the city was selected in the squad and that sparked of celebrations in football crazy pockets of Bengaluru. SANJEEV STALIN and HENDRY ANTONAY were the 2 lucky boys from Bengaluru in the Indian squad. 

These 2 boys had been part of the junior Indian teams from few years and their selection was not a surprising one.

Karnataka beat Hyderabad by 59 runs in Ranji Trophy match

Karnataka bowled out Hyderabad for 320 runs in the second innings to register their second successive victory of Ranji trophy 2017-18 season.

The 4th day's play was very evenly poised till the end as Hyderabad did try their best to chase down the target of 380 runs set by Karnataka. But eventually fell short by 59 runs and conceded the game to Karnataka. It was again the spin duo of Karnataka, Shreyas Gopal and K Gowtham who were instrumental in bundling out Hyderabad for 320 runs and ensuring Karnataka's second successive win this season. The spin duo had earlier put up an impressive display in the first innings too and had accounted for 8 of the 10 Hyderabad wickets in 1st innings.

Shreyas Gopal finished with figures of 4 for 91 in 18.4 overs while K Gowtham finished with figures of 3 for 92 in 41 overs. Karun Nair, Vinay Kumar and Stuart Binny picked up a wicket each in the second innings.

Karun Nair's century helps Karnataka set a target of 380 runs for Hyderabad to chase

Karun Nair was the star with the bat for Karnataka on the 3rd day of the Ranji Trophy match between Karnataka and Hyderabad. His knock also helped Karnataka in setting up a target of 380 runs for Hyderabad to chase. And at the end of 3rd day's play Hyderabad's 2nd innings team total was 92 runs for the lose of 2 wickets.

Karun managed to score 134 runs in 229 deliveries and the innings included 17 boundaries. Karun's innings was a classy one as he managed to score on all sides of the ground with ease. He was very sensible in his approach even when wickets were falling regularly at he other end. Stuart Binny provided good support to Karun and the duo managed a 150+ runs partnership for the 5th wicket. Stuart Binny also played a good innings and managed to score 72 runs before being dismissed by Mehedi Hasan.

For Hyderabad, Mehdi Hasan was the best bowler on display as he finished with figures of 5 for 68.

Pre-season friendly between Bengaluru Fc and East Bengal ends in a draw

Bengaluru Fc, who will be making their debut in upcoming season of ISL (Indian Super league) managed to hold East Bengal to a 1-1 draw in a pre-season friendly played at Bengaluru on Wednesday. 
The opening goal of the match was scored by the visitors East Bengal, thanks to a goal from Surabuddin Mullick within the first 10 minutes of the game. Both the coaches opted to start off the game with a playing eleven which included only Indians.  Bengaluru Fc managed to get back into the game in the 80th minute of the game when their foreign recruit Miku managed to score a goal. And thereafter no goals were scored and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Both the teams will again be playing a friendly on Oct 27th.

K Gowtham and Shreyas Gopal helps Karnataka to gain 1st innings lead against Hyderabad in Ranji Trophy

Karnataka managed to skittle out Hyderabad for 136 runs and gain a first innings lead of 47 runs on the second day of the Ranji trophy match against Hyderabad being played at Shimoga, Karnataka. Shreyas Gopal and K Gowtham were the stars for Karnataka in bowling. S Gopal picked up 5 wickets by giving away just 17 runs while K Gowtham kept the pressure on the other end by picking 3 wickets and giving away 56 runs.

K Sumanth who managed to top score for Hyderabad  by scoring 68 runs was also one among the 5 victims who fell in the spin web of S Gopal.

Although Karnataka managed to gain a first innings lead, the second innings batting of Karnataka did not get off to a good start as Karnataka lost 4 wickets by the time team score was 57 runs. But Karnataka ended the day on a good note as Karun Nair and Stuart Binny ensured Karnataka did not lose any further wicket.
