Bengaluru Fc win AFC cup 2017 campaign opener !!!

Sunil Chhetri scored the all important winner for Bengaluru FC as they managed to beat Mohun Bagan SC 2-1 in their AFC Cup 2017 campaign opener.
Although it was the away side Mohun Bagan Sc which scored the opener courtesy Katsumi Yusa’s penalty,  BFC recovered brilliantly thanks to goals from defender Sandesh Jhingan and  skipper Chhetri. Mohun Bagan had held the BFC to a 0-0 draw in the I-league game on Saturday.  Just before the end of 1st half, the ever impressive Bagan forward Sony Norde made a run into the box, and was brought down by Jhingan. Yusa stepped up and converted from the spot with ease. Ten minutes into the second half, Bagan suffered a huge setback when Yusa left the field with an injured shin. BFC began to find its momentum at this point of time, and levelled things through a terrific set-piece play. Karnataka continue their winning run at Vijay Hazare cricket tournament !!!

Karnataka continued their unbeaten run at Vijay Hazare cricket tournament by beating Chhattisgarh by 3 wickets.



Opting to bat first, Chhattisgarh had a terrible start as they where reeling at 39 for 3 after 11 overs. But contributions from Abhimanyu Chauhan, Kaif and Khare helped Chhattisgarh to set a target of 200 runs for Karnataka. Vinay Kumar was the stand out bowler for Karnataka as he picked 3 crucial wickets and ensured Chattisgarh does not get any easy runs with some tight bowling. He finished with figures of 3 for 19 in 9 overs. Prasidh Krishna, who has been the highest wicket taker for Karnataka in this tournament also supported Vinay Kumar by picking up 2 wickets. Binny, Ronit More, Shreyas Gopal and Gowtham all picked up a wicket each.

But with a strong batting unit 200 runs was not a very challenging total for Karnataka as they managed to chase down the target in 37.3 overs with 3 wickets in hand.

Bengaluru Fc back to winning ways via Lenny's winner !!!

Bengaluru FC managed its first win in last eight I-League games by defeating Minerva Punjab FC 1-0 at the GN Stadium. The man who came up with the winner for Bengaluru Fc was one of its new arrivals Lenny Rodrigues. The goal was scored in 17th minute by a header which which Lenny managed after a accurately taken corner from Watson. This result has brought Bengaluru Fc back on track in the I-league. It also carried BFC to fourth place with 16 points from 11 games. Match Highlights: 1. John Johnson returns from an injury which kept him out couple of matches. 2. Bengaluru's latest Siberian import made his debut. Serbian striker Marjan Jugovic, signed last week, made his debut. 3. Lenny's first goal for Bengaluru Fc in I-league. Bengaluru will next face Chennai City FC in Chennai, on Wednesday.

Karnataka enter quarters of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017

Karnataka continued their good run at Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017 by beating Hyderabad in an intense low scoring thriller. With this win they also ensured a place in quarter finals for themselves in a tournament which is considered to  one of the biggest limited overs tournament in Indian Domestic cricket.
 Vinay Kumar's was the Hero for Karnataka as he managed to play an unbeaten knock under pressure to secure a thrilling one-run win over Hyderabad. Highly experienced Vinay Kumar used all his experience and remained unbeaten on 35 to take Karnataka to victory after they were facing defeat at 81 for nine while chasing a low score of 109 runs at the Eden Gardens. It was a dismal performance from the Karnataka batting unit as their batsmen showed lack of patience and got out playing unnecessary rash shots Vinay Kumar, who came to bat at number nine was playing his first match of the tourney after recovering from an injury but he managed to play a patient 56-ball knock to take Karnatak…
