Karnataka beat Saurashtra in Vijay Hazare Cricket tournament 2017

Karnataka continued their winning run at the ongoing Vijay Hazare Cricket tournament 2017. With this win Karnataka has increased their chances of finishing as Group leaders and qualify for the later stages of the tournament.

Batting first, Karnataka could only manage to put on board a total of 201 before the entire team was dismissed in 47.1 overs. But this mere total was enough for Karnataka to walk over as winners as Saurashtra was shot out for 128 runs in their innings. It was a field day for bowlers from both the sides as both sides lost all their wickets.

For Karnataka the stand out performer with the bat was Mayank Agarwal as he managed to score 89 runs before being dismissed. Although there were regular wickets falling at the other end Mayank managed to score some valuable runs without which Karnataka would have been in further trouble. His innings included 5 boundaries and 1 six. The only other batsman who could give Mayank some sort of support was Stuart Binny who managed to score 31 runs. For Saurashtra K D Patel was the stand out performer with the ball as he managed to pick four wickets, including the vital wicket of Manish Pandey. Chirag Jani also managed to trouble the Karnataka batsmen as he too managed to pick 3 wickets including the wicket of Binny, Jaydev Unadkat also had a part to play in the downfall of Karnataka batting as he managed 2 vital wickets including that of Uthappa which he managed to pick in the second ball of the game.

In reply Saurashtra had a terrible start as they lost 5 wickets for the score of 27. For Karnataka Ronit More was the chief performer with the ball as he returned with figures of 4 wickets for 20 runs in 7.2 overs. He was well supported by other bowlers like Prasidh and Binny, both managed to pick 2 wickets. For Saurashtra Jaydev Shah was the best batsman as he managed 38 runs.

Next Karnataka will play Jammu and Kashmir on 3rd of March 2017.
